"Yes, Virginia..."

"Apparently Virginia and Florida are the most bookish states as of late -- both had two cities apiece among the top 10, and three apiece among the top 20. We'd like to congratulate residents of Alexandria, Virginia, the most literate city in the country according to Amazon, for reading so much."
Virginia O'Hanlon asked and they replied with an editorial.

"Well, something good had to rub off." *

Anna Jarvis founded Mother's Day back in 1908 in Grafton, West Virginia, but eventually earnestly campaigned for its abolition.  Why? Read more about it  on The Washington Post.

"All they do now is recycle shit from the past and expect nobody to notice."

Johnny Depp in all his awesomeness back in the '80s.  Nothing has really changed, has it?
But, really, we don't mind, as long as it is going to be as kick-ass funny as this "retooling" of the '80s hit series.  And as long as Channing Tatum's in it, too. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I actually can't believe I enjoyed this film.  I thought it was going to fall into the Scary Movie parody category (which is not really that bad if you'd only consider the first one).  And, again, Channing Tatuuuuuum! We totally get what Ms. Griggs (Ellie Kemper aka Erin from The Office) was feeling. We'd totally melt at that potassium nitrate poem and get all Liar Liar with Jenko.  Channing Tatuuuuuuum!

    "2b or nt 2b"

"Alex Edwards, who is 22 and from Wakefield, has been dealing with a different type of text: the one which young people flick too and fro with their agile little fingers. He has transposed the whole of Romeo and Juliet's famous Act II, Scene II into text abbreviations and produced it as Were4 rt thou Rmo?"

"Maybe my skull is too crowded and it has no opening through which to feed it soup?" *

By which we mean there's just too much awesome going on in the scifi-fantasy movie genre nowadays that, really, we don't have room for bad films. Thank you, Joss Whedon, for upping our standards and showing JJ Abrams what would probably be a better ending to Lost in The Cabin in the Woods.

"Everyone is obligated to make a sandwich out of the two last slices of bread."

I was looking for quick and easy sandwich recipes online when I got reminded of that quote from Cathy "Aaack" Guisewite.  I miss that comic strip. I miss a lot of things from the '90s.
